Preferred Properties owns 39 single-family homes throughout the Toledo-Lucas County Urban area. These homes, selected by the residents, reflect an important element of our housing program – resident choice. Grants from the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities have enabled a variety of accessibility features to be installed, including elevators and other lift systems for accessibility. Their presence in a variety of Toledo neighborhoods, and the corporation’s attention to quality performance, demonstrates that equal housing opportunity for persons with disabilities benefits the entire community. A grant from the City of Toledo’s Housing Trust Fund Program in 2004 enabled five of these homes to have fire suppression systems installed. Financing for the acquisition and renovation of these homes is provided by the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and National City Bank.
