Ottawa River Estates
Ottawa River Estates, is a 15-unit, Section 811 rental housing development for very low-income persons with disabilities. The project’s primary target population is persons with mobility impairments, sensory impairments, mental retardation or other developmental disabilities. The site is in a neighborhood with excellent proximity to public transit, shopping, recreation and other amenities.

This $2.0 million project consists of 15 total units. Fourteen units are HUD assisted under the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons With Disabilities Program, and the remaining unit is a two-bedroom single family home that will be rented by staff for efficient on-site operations.
The project features several important accessibility and safety designs in each unit, such as fire suppression, exterior safety lighting, 800 square feet of floor area, laundry facility, accessible (roll-in) shower, an enlarged (attached) garage to allow for a van with a side-loading chair lift, hearing adaptive equipment, automatic door openers, kitchen and laundry appliances, decorative street lighting, and attractive landscaping.
